LAW AND ACCOUNTING CONTROL

1. SCOPE

This Skills Programme is endorsed by ICB and covers the learning areas of:

    • Basic contract law
    • Insolvency law
    • Estate planning
    • Internal auditing and control
    • Fundamental techniques in finance
    • Computer auditing

2. PROGRAMME ENTRY REQUIREMENTS / LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE

    • A Grade 12 certificate or an equivalent Level 4 qualification (with Accounting)
    • Ideally learners should have completed the Skills Programmes entitled ‘Bookkeeping to Trial Balance’ and Financial Statements first before enrolling for this programme.

4. UNIT STANDARDS REFERENCE

12981   Administer and wind up the estates of deceased persons     NQF 5    8 credits

12982   Administer and wind up insolvent estates    NQF 5   8 credits

2983   Interpret statutes and provide basic information on South African legislation as it relates to the accounting function    NQF 5   10 credits

13014   Manage accounting systems    NQF 5   10 credits

13018   Contribute to the implementation of auditing procedures    NQF 5  12 credits
