SHEQ SUPERVISOR

1. SCOPE

Qualifying learners will be able to:

  • Monitor adherence to safe and environmentally friendly work practices by work team
  • Coach work team in their statutory rights and responsibilities and in safety indicators
  • Promote and maintain preventive measures in area of responsibility
  • Evaluate and suggest changes to the system
  • Compile reports on safety, health and environmental issues in area of responsibility
  • Discuss and explain the purpose of safety equipment and procedures
  • Identify and explain the purpose of demarcated areas, emergency stops, exits and first aid stations
  • Use personal protective equipment
  • Perform housekeeping duties in work area
  • Identify and respond to unsafe or potentially unsafe conditions, incidents or acts that may occur
  • Discuss and explain procedures for dealing with safety, health and environmental emergencies
  • Identify the nature of an incident and the relevant emergency procedure
  • Follow emergency procedures
  • Record and report incidents

2. PROGRAMME ENTRY REQUIREMENTS / LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE

This unit standard has been designed as part of a progression. It is one of a series of unit standards for safety, health and environmental protection in the field of manufacturing and engineering.
