ENTREPRENEURSHIP: GETTING STARTED
1. SCOPE
This unit standard introduces time management that will enable learners to be efficient workers in a selected business sector. The focus is knowledge, skills, values and attitudes in relation to the learner`s own context and experience of the world of work.
The qualifying learner is capable of:

- Creating, maintaining and using a task list to follow up and assist in completing tasks.
- Receiving and capturing diary information on line, or process it manually.
- Scheduling time to complete tasks according to specific deadlines and reporting incomplete activities timeously.
- Planning and following a work schedule.
This unit standard is for learners who are required to identify and develop within themselves, the personal characteristics of an entrepreneur that ensure the successful operation of a new venture. The unit standard also introduces the learner to the economic, administrative and behavioural (psycho-social) barriers that contribute to the success in starting and sustaining an enterprise. The learner will develop strategies to work effectively in a group and set personal goals in an entrepreneurial context.
Learners credited with this unit standard will be able to:

- Describe entrepreneurship.
- Describe the characteristics of a successful entrepreneur.
- Develop individual entrepreneurial characteristics.
- Explain methods to enhance an entrepreneurial profile.
2. PROGRAMME ENTRY REQUIREMENTS / LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE
Learners should:

- Hold a GETC or equivalent qualification
- Be competent in mathematical literacy NQF level 1.
- Communication at NQF Level 3.
