ADVANCED SKILLS IN SUPERVISION
1. SCOPE
The learner is able to identify assertive behaviour, realise the value thereof and practice some assertiveness techniques. The learner is able to lead the team, plan and allocate work and assess team members within context. Competent employees can function effectively as safety, health and environmental representatives, taking responsibility for investigation, representation and facilitation activities around safety, health and environmental protection responsibilities in the workplace
Qualifying learners are able to:
• Identify and explain the legal and workplace operational framework for the health, safety and environmental protection representative.
• Identify and explain the role and responsibilities of a safety, health and environmental protection representative.
• Explain the consequences of non-compliance in respect of safety, health and environmental protection and the representative’s role
2. PROGRAMME ENTRY REQUIREMENTS / LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE
• It is assumed that learners are competent in Communication at NQF Level 2 and ABET level 4 in Literacy
• An understanding of teamwork and knowledge of the role and functions of a team leader
